What Oversteer and Understeer Look Like

While you have heard about both oversteer and understeer, you probably are wondering what they look like. Fortunately, this is very obvious from how they are described. You can also get an idea on what it is like to experience these two occurrences while you are driving in certain types of vehicles.

For oversteer, the back of the vehicle is going to move out from behind the vehicle. This looks almost like a fishtail. This happens when the front wheel of the vehicle has more of a grip on the road than the rear wheels of the vehicle.

With understeer, this is something that is more experienced than seen in how it happens. The vehicle will continue to move forward even when you are turning the steering wheel. This comes as a result of the front tires losing some of the control power during acceleration of the vehicle.
